Through extensive research, focus groups, and polling, we identified four key ideas about the Census that resonated across diverse audiences: Money, Power, Jobs, and Safety & Security.
This guide includes specific language you can use to communicate these ideas, along with facts and examples you can share to convince people that the Census is important to their families and communities. In addition to the four key ideas, we added a special section about children, who are often overlooked in the Census count across communities. And we’ve included targeted resources for specific populations that may want to know more.
We hope this guide can serve as a flexible tool in your Census outreach. You know your community better than anyone, and we want to empower you to choose the ideas that you think will make the Census meaningful.
